Craig McNeil
My days in photography date back to the film era, where digital cameras were relatively new on the market and you couldn’t check your exposure on the back of the camera. Fast forward to today and I have over 30 years of photography experience in everything from children’s portraits and candid portraiture to business professional and family portraits. I have spent years refining my skills, making myself truly the best photographer I can be. My true passion lies in family portraits where I have focused the last 25 years of my life. I have traveled to the Maroon Bells in Aspen and photographed families on the beach in San Diego. I have had the privilege of photographing the families of some of the most notable names in Denver and have started to travel to secluded destinations to capture gallery worthy landscape photos using modern techniques. Every one has a family and I believe every home should have a family portrait showing the bond that you have, even when family can’t always be around. Your portrait from me will showcase that bond in a beautiful Rocky Mountain setting. My goal in photography isn’t in numbers but instead in quality and we will work together to create a portrait that you are proud to hang in your home and represent who you are as a family.

My childhood was spent in the suburban outskirts of Denver. Well before I could read or write, but able to pick up a pencil, I cultivated my passion for art by sketching people and objects that I found interesting around my home. Many of which came from my father’s National Geographic magazine subscription. My talent was realized by my family, peers, teachers, and occasionally strangers early on in my formative years. Credit to my teachers, especially Ms. Behling, who honed my skills throughout my school years recognizing the
value of my art work. Shortly after high school, Chet & Sandi, my friends and colleagues, had my best interests in mind when they gave me the opportunity to paint a portrait of Christ in front of a young audience at the parish I attended. That event was the springboard to build my business in performance painting. The majority of my works had a religious aspect to them and the fallowing 19 years I contracted with catholic charities, parishes and other diocese across the country. I had opportunities to paint a portrait or landscapes in front of patrons at various charities, raising over half a million dollars for organizations over the course of my career.
I met Craig at our local parish where we played guitar and sang songs for young adult events. I believe Craig and I share a lateral passion for music and performing on stage as well. Craig was in need of an assistant with his photography business and I was in need of work, so he took me under his wing and showed me the ropes on photographing individuals. I’ve had the privilege of working with Cheek to Cheek Photography and McNeil Designer Portraits approaching 25 years. From photographers assistant to photo enhancement to resident artist, I’m honored to be working with Mr. McNeil.
