In the day and age of sameness, we at McNeil Designer Portraits are intentional in our efforts  to be different from other photographers.  One of the things that sets us apart are our canvas wall portraits.  A misconception one might have, is to assume that all “canvas” portraits are alike.  I’m here to say that they are not.

The process of a McNeil Canvas is where we actually bond a photographic print to a natural cotton fiber canvas cloth. It’s a concept that is based on the style of painting from the old Masters.  The canvas is the same as an artist would paint, invoking the same emotions that you get from the look, feel and texture of the final piece.

For many this can be confusing as there are products that market themselves as “canvas” portraits which are actually “giclee” or inkjet prints where the photograph is printed directly on the substrate they are calling “canvas”.  It’s completely different process with a different look.

As you can see from the video the the bonded canvas is a multistep process requiring lots of hands and man-hours.
